About us

Our Story

Umi Rojo brings together more than two decades of experience in Asian-inspired cooking on Costa Rica's Caribbean coast.

Our food is influenced by the flavours and culinary traditions of Japan, Thailand and Southeast Asia, combined with fresh local ingredients and the relaxed spirit of the Caribbean.

The menu ranges from sushi and fresh seafood to Thai-inspired dishes, Asian tapas and creative fusion cuisine, with plenty of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free choices.

Now located directly beside the sea at Playa Cocles, Umi Rojo offers a casual and welcoming place to enjoy good food in a beautiful beachfront setting. Pull up a stool at the sushi bar, relax at one of our beach tables, or enjoy your favourite dishes through takeaway and local delivery.
